The Headies Awards, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious music award shows, has officially announced the nominees for its 17th edition on February 12, 2025. 

This edition is particularly significant as it marks the return of the awards to Nigeria after being hosted in Atlanta, USA, for the previous two years. 

The ceremony for the 2024 edition, rescheduled to April 5, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, will honor outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry, while the 2025 edition is slated for December 2025. 

The nomination list for 2025 has generated significant buzz, reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of the Nigerian and broader African music scenes.

Rookie of the Year

This category recognizes new artists who have had a successful year musically, typically without releasing a full album. The nominees for 2025 are:
