In a heart-pounding clash at the iconic San Siro on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Inter Milan clinched their place in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League final in a 13-goal thriller across two legs.

This comes as Inter edged out Barcelona in a thrilling 4-3 second-leg victory.

The second leg was a spectacle of high-octane football, with Inter striking first.

The Italian team found the back of the net after Lautaro Martínez stroked the ball into the empty net.

The next plot twist in the match came just before HT when VAR retrospectively judged Pau Cubarsí’s sliding challenge on Martínez to be marginally late.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu dispatched into the bottom-left corner from the resulting penalty.

However, Barcelona once again rallied against the odds and found their way back into the tie when Eric García within 10 minutes of the restart.

Olmo’s bullet header levelled the score in what became the first UCL semi-final since 2022 to hit double figures in aggregate goals.

With just two minutes of normal time to spare, Raphinha found the back of the net to put his side in front for the first time in the tie.

But just as the visitors had their hearts and minds turning towards the final, Dumfries crossed for Francesco Acerbi to divert the ball into the top corner at the near post and force an extra 30 minutes.

The hosts looked reinvigorated when play got back underway, and put themselves back in front when Mehdi Taremi cushioned Marcus Thuram’s cross into the path of Davide Frattesi, who slotted into the far corner to win 4-3 and send his team to the Champions League final.

Inter now await the winner of the Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain semi-final in the Champions League final, aiming to claim their fourth UCL title and first since 2010.
