After the announcement of the 2025 UTME scores, numerous students aiming for admission into Nigerian universities are inquiring about which institutions are still providing opportunities for those with lower scores.
With the admission season fast approaching, questions about school choices, catchment areas, and departmental requirements have become top of mind for students and parents alike.
Many are seeking guidance from educational consultants, online forums, and career counsellors to obtain trustworthy information about schools that accept admissions based on their UTME scores.
For some, the focus has shifted from prestigious universities to more accessible polytechnics and colleges of education, while others are considering taking a gap year to prepare for the next UTME cycle.
Recall that the 2025 UTME was particularly alarming as over 1.5 million candidates scored below 200, with only 0.63% achieving 300 or above, highlighting a challenging year for admissions.
Although technical glitches in 157 centres further complicated the process, however, JAMB launched a review and subsequently rescheduled efforts to address these issues.
Many top universities in the country have established a minimum UTME score of 200 as their cut-off mark for admissions.
However, some institutions have set lower thresholds, allowing scores as low as 150 or 160 for various programs.
