The Super Eagles of Nigeria beat Jamaica on Saturday, May 31, 2025 to claim the 2025 Unity Cup title at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium in London, United Kingdom.

The Super Eagles had to rely on a penalty shoot-out to clinch the 2025 Unity Cup, following a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Moses Simon opened the scoring with a fine finish off Cyriel Dessers’ cross, but the Raggae Boys leveled almost immediately through Kaheim Dixon.

The Super Eagles again went in front, after Samuel Chukwueze found the back of the net.

Again, Jamaica found an equalizer, with Jon Russell finding the back of the net in the 63rd minute.

The boys tried to net the third, however, all efforts proved futile as the match ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 mins.

In the shootout, Nigeria’s composure shone through. While Jamaica missed one of their four kicks, the Super Eagles converted all their five attempts, with Christantus Uche stepping up to convert the decisive penalty, securing a 5-4 victory and the 2025 Unity Cup title.

This triumph marks Nigeria’s second Unity Cup win, defending their crown from the tournament’s edition in 2004.

The Unity Cup, revived after a 21-year hiatus, brought together African giants Nigeria and Ghana, alongside Caribbean powerhouses Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago.

Hosted at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium from May 27 to May 31, the tournament was a vibrant celebration of football and cultural unity.

Nigeria’s journey to the final was paved with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over arch-rivals Ghana in the semi-finals, setting the stage for an electrifying clash against Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz.

On the other hand, Black Stars of Ghana clinched the third-placed play-off after thrashing Trinidad and Tobago 4-0.
