The Times Higher Education (THE), in its report titled World University Rankings, has officially unveiled the world’s leading medical schools in 2025.

According to the report by Times Higher Education, the university rankings are determined by assessing various factors including teaching quality, research excellence, international outlook, and engagement with industry.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that this comes as students across the world are actively searching for the most suitable institutions to pursue degrees in medicine and health sciences.

Below are the top 5 world’s leading medical schools in 2025;

1. University of Oxford (United Kingdom)

Oxford University claims the top spot on the list of the world’s best medical schools in 2025. According to the rankings, Oxford University score of 96 out of 100.

The report also revealed that Oxford excelled in industry output, achieving a perfect 100/100 score in this category.

Its two specialized medical libraries—one for pre-clinical studies and another for healthcare—support a robust curriculum that blends academic rigor with practical training.

2. Harvard University (United States)

Harvard Medical School ranked second with a score of 94.8 and continues to set the standard for medicine and health sciences.

Founded in 1782, it is the third-oldest medical school in the U.S., offering MD, PhD, master’s, and joint programs with other Harvard faculties.

Despite recent scrutiny over federal grant reviews, Times Higher Education said Harvard’s biomedical research remains a global beacon, supported by its extensive hospital affiliations and diverse academic community.

3. University of Cambridge (United Kingdom)

The University of Cambridge also. Emerged in the list of the world’s leading media schools in 2025. Cambridge is renowned for its outstanding medical programs and has achieved an impressive score of 93.9.

4. Imperial College London (United Kingdom)

Imperial College London claimed the fourth spot in the 2025 THE rankings for medicine and health sciences, with a score of 92.1.

5. Johns Hopkins University (United States)

Johns Hopkins University rounds out the top five, with a score of 90.8. The university os celebrated for its transformative contributions to medicine and health sciences.

Known for its research-intensive programs, Johns Hopkins has driven breakthroughs in public health, infectious diseases, and clinical practice.

According to the ranking, John Hopkins School of Medicine fosters a collaborative environment, with faculty and students tackling global health challenges through rigorous academic training and international partnerships.
