Tech billionaire Elon Musk has expressed his regrets over his criticisms of the United States President Donald Trump, following the popular Trump-Musk feud that captured the attention of many across the world.
Musk, who took to his official X handle on Wednesday admitted that some of his social media posts “went too far.”
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X.
The apology, issued on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, comes after a week of intense online clashes that captivated the attention of many people across the world.
The public spat between the duo, dubbed the Trump-Musk feud began after Musk, the world’s richest man and former co-head of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), unleashed a scathing attack on Trump’s “Big, Beautiful” spending bill.
The tech billionaire labelled the bill as a “disgusting abomination” and a “mountain of disgusting pork” that would balloon the federal deficit of the U.S.
Musk didn’t stop there, escalating the feud with personal jabs and even suggesting Trump’s name allegedly appeared in Jeffrey Epstein’s files—a claim he later deleted.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,” Musk said in the now-deleted post.
Trump fired back, expressing disappointment in his former ally and threatening “serious consequences” if Musk funded Democrats or opposed Republicans supporting the bill.
“He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that,” Trump, who also branded Musk “disrespectful,” told NBC News on Saturday, without specifying what those consequences would be.
Trump also said he had “no” desire to repair his relationship with the South African-born Tesla and SpaceX chief, and that he has “no intention of speaking to him.”
“Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore. I was surprised,” Trump told reporters.
