United States President Donald Trump declared that an Israel-Iran ceasefire has been secured, effectively pausing a 12-day conflict that has gripped the Middle East.
Trump made this announcement via his Truth Social account on June 23, 2025.
The U.S. President said the Israel-Iran ceasefire will unfold in two 12-hour phases, with Iran initiating the first halt in hostilities, followed by Israel joining at the 12th hour, culminating in an official end to what he dubbed “THE 12 DAY WAR.”
He said: “CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!.
“Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World.”
Trump also praised the authorities of both countries for their “Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence” to end what he called “THE 12 DAY WAR.”
“This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!” he concluded.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that Trump’s announcement followed intense U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities and Iran’s retaliatory missile attack.
The Israel-Iran war began after Israel declared that Iran was weeks away from a nuclear breakout.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had claimed that declassified reports revealed Iran’s stockpile of 60% enriched uranium had grown to 140 kilograms, enough for three bombs if further enriched.
Netanyahu said that based on this, Israel launched a surprise attack on June 12, 2025.
The attack dubbed “Operation Rising Lion,” targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities, ballistic missile sites, and key military figures.
Following the attack, Iran launched over 280 ballistic missiles at Israel since Friday, June 13.
The war escalated after the U.S. attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities. The strikes targeted key sites like Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Iran, on Tuesday, retaliated with a missile strike on the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
