Authorities in Israel and Iran have both acknowledged the United States President Donald Trump-brokered ceasefire plan to halt the 12-day war that has engulfed the Middle East in chaos.

This comes despite initial fears that both nations might not agree to the terms and conditions of the ceasefire deal as they both accused each other of violating the agreement to end the war.

But after back-and-forth and initial resistance, the Israeli military was the first to acknowledge the Trump-brokered ceasefire.

This was contained in a press statement released by the Israeli Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir.

Zamir acknowledged a ceasefire with Iran and said, “Now the focus shifts back to Gaza”.He added that the military has “concluded a significant phase, but the campaign against Iran is not over”.

“We are entering a new phase based on the achievements of the current one. We’ve set Iran’s nuclear project back by years, and the same applies to its missile programme,” he stated.

Similarly, Iran’s president has issued a statement acknowledging a ceasefire with Israel.

President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the conflict was “imposed” on Iran by Israel’s “adventurism” and claims that “the people of Iran” determined the end of the “12-day war”.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that Trump via his Truth Social account on June 23, 2025, said the Israel-Iran ceasefire will unfold in two 12-hour phases, with Iran initiating the first halt in hostilities, followed by Israel joining at the 12th hour, culminating in an official end to what he dubbed “THE 12 DAY WAR.”

He said: “CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!.
