A veteran sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano has dropped a bombshell, debunking viral reports about Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s wage demands.

According to Romano, reports claiming Osimhen demanded £300,000 per week to join EPL clubs are “wide of the mark.”

Instead, the Nigerian star is willing to accept a more modest £200,000 per week, aligning with his current Napoli salary of €12m net per season (roughly £10.2m).

Osimhen, who is currently in the middle of another summer transfer saga, has been a hot topic with speculation swirling about his next move and his wage demands.

However, Romano has clarified that Osimhen’s wage demand is reasonable contrary to reports that he is demanding a huge wage.

“He just wants his current salary (around €12m net, £10.2m per season) to be respected, nothing different. Same as one year ago,” Romano explained.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that this clarification dismantles the narrative that Osimhen’s wage demands are pricing him out of a Premier League move.

It is expected that these wage expectations could pave the way for Manchester United to make a move for the 26-year-old, especially considering Mason Mount earns £250,000 per week at Old Trafford.

The Nigerian international has also been linked with Liverpool, which wants to negotiate a potential swap deal involving Darwin Núñez.

Also, Juventus is reportedly interested in Osimhen due to his successful loan spell at Galatasaray, where he scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 games across all competitions.

The striker also has interest from Saudi Arabia. However, he recently rejected a mammoth £ 30 m-a-year offer from Al-Hilal.

Meanwhile, aside from the wage demands, Osimhen’s contract with Napoli, set to expire next summer, includes a €75m release clause for foreign clubs.
