Buhari’s burial in Daura, following his passing in a London hospital on Sunday at age 82, was attended by President Bola Tinubu; Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and a former vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.

Governors in attendance include the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda; Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), among others.

The event, steeped in Islamic tradition, was a poignant moment for a country reflecting on his legacy as both a military head of state and a two-term democratic president.

The journey of Buhari’s remains began at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, where they arrived from London, draped in the Nigerian flag.

A military parade, led by senior officials, paid tribute to the former leader before his body was transported by road to Daura.

In Daura, thousands lined the streets to see the remains of Buhari often called “Mai Gaskiya” — the Honest One.

Before Buhari was committed to Mother Earth, the Chief Imam of Katsina State led the funeral prayer at 5:00 PM, adhering to Islamic rites.

The family and friends of the late former President were also allowed the opportunity to see the remains of their loved one.
