England has won the Women’s EURO 2025 trophy after defeating Spain in a 3-1 penalty shootout.

This means the Lionesses of England have successfully defended their European title in Switzerland.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that the match at St. Jakob-Park was a rollercoaster of emotions.

Spain took the lead with a brilliant header from Mariona Caldentey.

However, Alessia Russo equalized in the second half with a well-placed header of her own, forcing extra time.

As the game headed to penalties, goalkeeper Hannah Hampton shone, saving two spot-kicks from Caldentey and Aitana Bonmatí, while Salma Paralluelo dragged her effort wide.

England’s penalties were clinical, with Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles, and Kelly scoring, despite misses from Beth Mead and Leah Williamson.

Chloe Kelly’s penalty strike sealed the Women’s EURO 2025 trophy for England.

This victory marks England’s second consecutive European Championship, underlining manager Sarina Wiegman.

Weigman has also secured her third straight EURO title across two nations.
