Paris Saint-Germain, PSG defender Achraf Hakimi is at the risk of a 15-year jail term over a rape allegation.
This comes as prosecutors in France have formally requested that Hakimi be sent for trial before a criminal court over the rape allegations.
The allegation against Hakimi, which he has denied, was levelled against him in 2023.
It was gathered that the Prosecutors believe that there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial, hence the reason for the latest move for a court trial.
The prosecutor’s office requested Hakimi’s indictment before the Hauts-de-Seine criminal court.
This was contained in a statement issued by the prosecutor’s office on Friday.
“It is now up to the investigating magistrate to decide within the framework of his order,” the statement reads.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that PSG Defender Achraf Hakimi has been battling rape accusations by a 24-year-old woman since 2023.
The woman claimed she was assaulted at Hakimi’s home in Paris on February 25, 2023.
Hakimi, who has consistently denied the allegations, maintained he is the victim of a financial extortion attempt.
