The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed a six-month flight ban on popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1.

This ban bars KWAM 1 from boarding commercial flights in Nigeria for six months.

Michael Achimugu, the NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, made this disclosure during a press briefing on Thursday.

He said: “What I must assure the general public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book.

“As we speak, the passenger is going to be blacklisted for the next six months from flying in Nigeria.

“Aviation rules are made for everybody, for the protection of everybody. These rules are global. There is nothing about the rules that is to antagonise any passenger.

“So, we will do everything we can to get to the root of it. Everybody who needs to be punished or sanctioned will receive justice.”

He also disclosed that the NCAA is currently writing to the attorney-general of the federation and the inspector-general of police to initiate legal proceedings against Ayinde.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that this development comes after an incident occurred at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025, where the Fuji musician allegedly violated aviation safety protocols.

The NCAA cited KWAM 1’s actions as a serious breach, prompting swift disciplinary measures.

According to reports, the incident occurred during boarding for ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos. KWAM 1 attempted to bring a flask containing an unidentified liquid, suspected to be alcohol, onto the aircraft, contravening Nigeria’s aviation regulations that prohibit liquids exceeding 100ml unless medically necessary and declared.

When asked to surrender the flask, the musician allegedly refused, escalating tensions by spilling the contents on a security officer and obstructing the aircraft’s departure by standing in its path.

However, KWAM 1, through his media team, refuted the allegations, claiming the flask contained only drinking water provided at the airport lounge and denying any physical altercation or obstruction.

In a statement, he argued that he was unfairly targeted and that FAAN and ValueJet executives apologized and even offered him a private jet.
