Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been nominated for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy, the Ballon d’Or award recognizing the world’s best female goalkeeper.

Nnadozie, the goalkeeper of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, performed for both club and country in the 2024/25 season, earning her a nomination.

She is now facing competition from Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger, Spain’s Cata Coll, England’s Hannah Hampton, and the Netherlands’ Daphne van Domselaar, for the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy.

The development is also more pronounced as Nnadozie becomes the first African woman goalkeeper to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.

Also, Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has been nominated for 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.

Madeugu was nominated for the Women’s Team Coach of the Year following Super Falcons’ recent success at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie’s journey to the 2025 Women’s Yachine Trophy nomination is marked by stellar achievements.

After a standout season with Paris FC, where she played her part in securing the club’s first major title in nearly 20 years at the 2025 Coupe de France Féminine, she made a high-profile move to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League.

Her heroics in the Coupe de France final, including crucial saves in a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Paris Saint-Germain, showcased her world-class talent.

Recently, Nnadozie was instrumental in Nigeria’s 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph, earning the Best Goalkeeper award and a spot in the Team of the Tournament after keeping four clean sheets in six matches.
