A former Sokoto State Governor and current senator representing Sokoto south Senatorial district, Aminu Tambuwal, has been reportedly detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja over alleged N189 billion fraud.
It was gathered that Tambuwal arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11:30 a.m. on Monday and was reportedly placed under detention where he is currently undergoing interrogation.
Reports emerging on Monday revealed that the alleged N189 billion fraud allegations violate the Money Laundering (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The EFCC was said to have been investigating Tambuwal over his tenure as governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023.
Meanwhile, the EFCC has not officially revealed details of this development.
