The 2025 summer transfer window has seen huge investments, with the Premier League’s top spenders splashing over £2 billion collectively.
Leading the charge are the traditional “Big Six” clubs, who have bolstered their squads with new players, signaling fierce competition for the 2025/26 Premier League title, which will kick off on Friday.
Here’s a breakdown of the Premier League’s top spenders as of press time;
1. Liverpool – £252.2 million
Reigning champions Liverpool are currently the highest spenders, with a £252.2 million spent in the ongoing 2025 transfer window. Their signings include Florian Wirtz (£116 million) and Hugo Ekitike (up to £79 million), alongside full-backs Milos Kerkez (£40.8 million) and Jeremie Frimpong (£35 million). Rumors of a potential move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak could push their spending even higher, potentially breaching £300 million.
2. Chelsea – £240.2 million
Chelsea continues their transfer policy under Todd Boehly, spending £240.2 million to secure second place among the Premier League’s top spenders. Acquisitions include Joao Pedro (£60 million from Brighton), Jamie Gittens (£56 million from Dortmund), and Liam Delap (£30 million). Also, Chelsea has recouped over £105 million from sales like Noni Madueke, meaning the club’s net spend stands at £111.3 million.
3. Manchester United – £205.5 million
Manchester United, rebounding from their worst-ever Premier League finish (15th), have spent £205.5 million, primarily on forwards Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matheus Cunha.
4. Arsenal – £192.6 million
Arsenal, determined to end their title drought, have invested £192.6 million, with high-profile signings like Viktor Gyökeres (£63.7 million) and Martin Zubimendi (£60 million). Their net spend of £187.8 million tops the league, as they’ve offset little through sales. Interest in Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze could push their spending past £200 million.
5. Manchester City – £153.4 million
Manchester City, under Pep Guardiola, have spent £153.4 million, signing players like Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Rayan Cherki. Their net spend of £125 million reflects modest sales, including Yan Couto (£20 million).
6. Tottenham Hotspur – £127.9 million
Tottenham, now led by Thomas Frank after sacking Ange Postecoglou, have spent £127.9 million, with Mohammed Kudus (£55 million) and a permanent deal for Mathys Tel (£30 million) headlining their activity.
