Italian club, AC Milan has reportedly called off Bayer Leverkusen’s star striker Victor Boniface’s transfer over failed medical tests.

This comes after AC Milan had been in advanced negotiations to bring the Nigerian forward to the San Siro.

It was also reported that AC Milan had agreed a deal with Bayern Leverkusen for Boniface’s transfer. It was said to be worth a €5 million loan fee and a €24 million buy option.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, on Sunday reported that Boniface’s transfer collapsed during the routine medical examination.

He said: “AC Milan call Victor Boniface’s deal off as the Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests.

“Despite verbal agreement for €5m loan fee and €24m buy clause with player in Milano in the last 48h, deal called off due to medical. Boniface, returning to Germany today.”

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that this comes after reports suggested that Roma had rejected a swap proposal involving Boniface and Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk several weeks ago due to similar concerns over Boniface’s knee condition.

The Nigerian striker suffered an adductor problem that sidelined him for several months during the 2023/24 season.

He had also suffered two ACL injuries in his career, the first in the 2018/19 season, which left him out 179 days, and the second in the 2020/21 season, when he was out for 358 days.

After he joined Bayern Leverkusen in the summer of 2023 for a club-record fee, he showed his potential with a hat-trick on debut but was hampered by recurring fitness issues.
