The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has announced the repatriation of a wanted Chinese Gang Leader, identified as Dai Qisheng to the People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese gang leader was said to be a notorious criminal suspect accused of leading a transnational organized crime syndicate.

The suspect, a 42-year-old Chinese national, was arrested in Lagos following a collaboration with the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL).

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Force Public Relations Office, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

According to Adejobi, Qisheng is facing multiple charges in China, including racketeering, money laundering, and human trafficking.

Adejobi added that the Chinese gang leader had been declared wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for allegedly orchestrating and leading violent organised crimes.

The spokesperson disclosed that determined to evade justice, the suspect sought refuge in Nigeria, but operatives of INTERPOL, National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, tracked, surveilled, and apprehended the fugitive in Abuja on August 8, 2025.

The statement reads in part: “Following his arrest, the fugitive was repatriated on August 15, 2025, to Beijing under the established framework of police-to-police cooperation, coordinated by INTERPOL.

“This operation not only reaffirms the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to ensure that no fugitive finds a safe haven within Nigeria but also reflects the strength of international partnerships in addressing the increasingly complex threats of global crime networks.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, has reassured that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to continuously improving international alliances, leveraging intelligence-sharing and operational collaboration to ensure that borders never become barriers to justice.

“He emphasised that the arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng is a clear message to criminals worldwide that the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not be a hiding place for fugitives.”

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that this comes after the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) last Thursday announced the repatriation of 51 foreign cybercrime convicts.

The 51 foreign cybercrime convicts, include 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian.
