United States President Donald Trump has reportedly revoked former Vice President Kamala Harris’s Secret Service protection.
The reported move, said to be effective from September 1, 2025, reverses an alleged undisclosed executive order signed by former President Joe Biden, which had extended Harris’s Secret Service security detail beyond the standard six-month period mandated by the U.S. Constitution.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that under the federal law of the U.S. Constitution, former vice presidents are entitled to six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office, a period that ended for Harris on July 21, 2025.
Reports emerging on Friday suggested that Biden quietly extended Harris’ protection for an additional year.
However, in a presidential order, Trump has reportedly directed the Homeland Security to revoke Harris’s Secret Service protection.
“You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris,” Trump reportedly directed.
The revocation means Harris will lose not only in-person security agents but also access to threat intelligence, including monitoring of emails, texts, social media, and other potential risks.
The timing of the development also comes weeks before Harris embarks on a nationwide book tour to promote her memoir titled 107 Days.
The book is set to be released on September 23, 2025.
