Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has earned a global accolade after he was included in the 2025 TIME100 AI list.

The Nigerian minister joined global tech titans like Elon Musk and Sam Altman on the prestigious list.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that the 2025 TIME100 AI list was curated by TIME’s editors. It was gathered that the list was curated through extensive analysis of AI developments and consultations with industry experts.

Also, it was gathered that Tijani’s inclusion in the 2025 TIME100 AI list was due to his 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative program.

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, aiming to train 3 million Nigerians in technical skills by 2027, has reportedly empowered nearly 300,000 individuals through digital platforms and 220 in-person learning centers, with partnerships from organizations like Google and the Gates Foundation.

Also, Tijani’s inclusion in the TIME100 AI List came after his initiatives like the National AI Strategy (NAIS), which brought together over 120 Nigerian experts to craft a framework for ethical AI use in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and financial inclusion.

The program’s impact is further amplified through strategic partnerships, such as the collaboration with the Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) to launch the 3MTT–DBN Annual Entrepreneurship Training Programme.

Reacting, the minister, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser, Media and Communications, Isime Esene, said: “The result is a list of 100 leaders, innovators, shapers, and thinkers who have a stake in the future of AI.

“With the support of partners like Google, the Gates Foundation, and others, Nigeria is facilitating the scaling of mature AI solutions from local innovators.

“We are providing resources, mentorship, and support necessary to translate ideas into impact.

“This recognition from TIME further validates our belief that Nigeria can stand as a global leader in the responsible and inclusive deployment of AI for increased productivity.

“With this global recognition, Nigeria reinforces its commitment to leveraging AI to create opportunities for its citizens and contribute to the advancement of responsible technology worldwide.”
