Chelsea FC is involved in another transfer drama after the club informed Bayern Munich of its intention to pull out of Nicolas Jackson’s loan deal.
It was gathered that Chelsea was made to pull out of Jackson’s loan deal after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury in a 2-0 victory over Fulham on August 30, 2025.
The development came after Jackson landed in Germany ahead of his medical tests to complete the move to Bayern Munich.
It was reported that Chelsea had already reached an agreement with Bayern Munich over Jackson’s loan deal.
The deal was said to have included a record-breaking £13 million (€15 million) loan fee and an option to buy Jackson for £56.2 million (€65 million), potentially totaling £70 million with a sell-on clause.
Jackson, who scored 24 Premier League goals over two seasons with Chelsea, had expressed a desire to explore his options after falling behind new signings Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in the pecking order.
However, Delap’s hamstring injury, expected to sideline him for six to eight weeks, has forced Chelsea’s hand.
Manager Enzo Maresca, speaking post-match, emphasized the need for attacking depth, stating: “When you have two strikers, it’s enough. When one is injured, it probably is not enough.”
Meanwhile, Jackson has reported told Chelsea that he has no intention to come back.
This has escalated the transfer saga days ahead of the conclusion of the summer window on September 1, 2025.
Reacting to the development, former Premier League defender Stephen Warnock said: “I can understand the decision from Chelsea’s point of view. From a player’s point of view, it’s not ideal.
“You’re in already in Munich, there is an excitement and a buzz. There is a feeling that you’re not wanted at one club, but you are wanted at this other club, so your confidence suddenly lifts, and then you have to go back to the one that doesn’t want you.
“Now this is an opportunity to go and stamp your mark back at Chelsea. He could go and be the star of the show at Chelsea – and what’s to say that they don’t go on and win some major trophies this season?
“He [Jackson] can change the narrative if he changes his mindset. It just depends on which way he wants to go.”
