The 2025 transfer deadline has delivered a whirlwind of high-profile moves, with Liverpool securing Newcastle’s Alexander Isak for a British record £125m.
Another high-profile move included Manchester City securing the signature of goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a fee of £30m.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that Isak’s move was the major highlight of the 2025 transfer deadline.
Isak, a 25-year-old Swedish striker who scored 27 goals in 42 appearances, had informed Newcastle of his decision to seek a move away from the club.
The development would later escalate into a big drama after Newcastle maintained that they are not going to sell Isak.
This made the striker release a public statement, announcing that he won’t play for Newcastle, citing “broken promises.”
Meanwhile, after several back and forths, Newcastle succumbed, agreeing on a £125m deal with Liverpool.
This means an end to the transfer saga which has been on for about a month.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass also reports that Isak signed a six-year contract and completed his medical on deadline day.
Also, Manchester City signed Donnarumma, a hero of PSG’s Champions League triumph last season. The deal came after Ederson left Manchester City to join Fenerbahce for £12m.
Manchester City also completed the sale of Ilkay Gündogan to Galatasaray
Chelsea also completed a loan deal with Bayern Munich for striker Nicholas Jackson. The deal came after the negotiations broke down when Chelsea’s Liam Delap suffered an injury. Similarly, Chelsea sold Ben Chilwell to Strasbourg.
In other developments, Newcastle, after losing Isak, sealed a £55m deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and a club-record £69m for Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade, ensuring their attacking options remain robust.
Fulham also signed Nigerian winger Chukwueze on an initial loan with a buy option clause from AC Milan. Also, Fulham signed Tyrique George from Chelsea in a deal worth €22 million.
Other notable moves include Aston Villa’s loan deals for Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho, and Tottenham’s loan signing of PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani.
Also, Nigerian striker Victor Boniface completed a loan move to Werder Bremen from Bayern Leverkusen.
