Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare has officially broken his silence following widespread media reports of a training ground ban.
This comes hours after reports emerged detailing a tense confrontation at the club’s Compton Park training base.
Reports emerged that Arokodare, a 25-year-old international, received a training ground ban and was banished from first-team training by new manager Cesar Peixoto.
Allegations suggested Arokodare refused to leave the pitch after being instructed to train away from the main squad, forcing coaching staff to cancel the session entirely and deploy additional security to manage the situation.
Arokodare and Wolves have reportedly been at loggerheads over the striker’s potential transfer away from the club.
Wolves have accepted a bid from Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, while Arokodare prefers a move to Fiorentina in Serie A.
In a post on social media, Arokodare revealed his account of the training ground incident. The striker said his “only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract”.
He added he was trying to be in the best shape so he can contribute to the club whenever he gets the chance.
“Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards,” Arokodare said.
“My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon.
“I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract.”
The training ground incident is not the first time Arokodare has faced disciplinary action at Wolves. In April, he was involved in a scuffle with teenage teammate Mateus Mane. He was fined for the altercation and only started one match for Wolves afterwards.
