Romania has launched what it called, the Romania Government Scholarship 2025 – fully funded scholarships program – aimed at attracting non-EU students, including Nigerians to study in the European country.

This initiative, administered through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Education, seeks to attract talented international students to pursue higher education in Romania at the undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels, especially as overseas education trends continue to shift, Pan-Atlantic Kompass had earlier reported.

The fully funded scholarships cover a wide range of academic disciplines, with the notable exception of Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Pharmacy, due to specific regulations and language requirements in these fields.

The program is fully funded, meaning it provides comprehensive financial support to successful applicants. This includes:

Full Tuition Coverage: Recipients are exempt from paying tuition fees for the entire duration of their chosen program, whether at the undergraduate, master’s, or PhD level.

Monthly Stipend: Students receive a monthly financial aid package to cover living expenses.

The stipend varies depending on the level of study:

Undergraduate and preparatory year students: Equivalent to 65 EURO in Romanian lei.

Master’s students: Equivalent to 75 EURO in Romanian lei.

PhD students: Equivalent to 85 EURO in Romanian lei.

Accommodation: The fully funded scholarships finance accommodation expenses in university dormitories, subject to the availability of places. Students are responsible for contacting their host university to confirm accommodation arrangements.

Public Transport Access: Scholars benefit from the same public transportation privileges as Romanian students, including local, ground, marine, and underground transport, as well as domestic car and railway transportation.

Exemption from Fees: Applicants are exempt from registration fees, visa fees, and any other fees associated with the application process, significantly reducing the financial burden of studying abroad.

Medical Assistance: The program provides medical assistance for emergencies and diseases, ensuring students’ health and well-being during their studies.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Romania Government fully funded Scholarships 2025, candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements. These criteria ensure that the program attracts high-achieving and motivated students while adhering to Romania’s legal and diplomatic frameworks.

Key eligibility conditions include:

Nationality: Applicants must be non-EU nationals.

Academic Performance: Candidates must have achieved an academic score of at least 7/10 (or the equivalent of a “Good” grade) in their last graduated school. This requirement ensures that only students with strong academic records are selected.

Program-Specific Requirements: Applicants must meet the admission criteria for their chosen degree program, including any language proficiency requirements. For PhD candidates, a letter of intent detailing their research and an acceptance letter from a doctoral tutor are mandatory.
