A recent report released by the European Union Commission has revealed the easiest countries to get a Schengen visa.

Using the available data for 2024, these countries offer straightforward application processes, high approval rates, and fewer hurdles for travellers.

A Schengen visa allows entry to 29 European countries for up to 90 days, and choosing the right country to apply through can make all the difference.

According to the data, 1.7 million out of 11.7 million Schengen visa applications were rejected in 2024. This figure represents a 14.8% visa rejection rate.

This also means that 10 million Schengen visa applications were granted.

Based on recent data, here are the top 5 countries where obtaining a Schengen visa is most accessible in 2025;

1. Iceland – 91.25% Approval Rate

According to the official data of the EU, Iceland tops the list, approving over 91% of visa applications in 2024. Despite receiving 57% more applications than in 2023, Iceland remains the most visa-friendly country in the zone.

2. Slovakia – 89.25% Approval Rate

Slovakia emerges as a strong contender, maintaining a high visa approval rate.

3. Italy – 88.72% Approval Rate

Italy continues to be a favourite among travellers, not just for its culture and cuisine, but also for its high visa approval rate, making it an accessible gateway into Europe.

4. Romania – 88.36% Approval Rate

Though not yet fully part of the Schengen Area for land borders, Romania shows impressive visa approval rates, making it easier for travellers to gain entry into Europe.

5. Switzerland – 88.12% Approval Rate

Known for its strict border controls, Switzerland pleasantly surprised with high approval rates, making it a convenient yet scenic starting point for your travels.

Recall that Pan-Atlantic Kompass had reported the seven Schengen countries with the highest rejection rates in 2024.

Malta, Estonia, and Belgium, among other countries, had the highest visa rejection rates in 2024.
