A suspected Lagos-based ‘Yahoo Boy’ defrauded Trump’s inauguration committee weeks before President Donald Trump officially assumed office on January 20, 2025, according to reports.

The suspected fraudster identified as Ehiremen Aigbokhan has reportedly been on the radar of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over the allegation.

The ‘Yahoo Boy’ defrauded Trump’s inauguration committee to the tune of $300,000 and had already been slammed with a civil forfeiture complaint to seize his properties following massive scam.

Aigbokhan was alleged to have executed the scam through a sophisticated Business Email Compromise (BEC) scheme.

He was said to have deployed fake email addresses to dupe a donor of a total of $300,000 or N460 million when converted using the current official exchange rates.

The alleged scam reportedly unfolded in the weeks leading up to Trump’s January 20, 2025, inauguration as the 46th President of the U.S. Aigbokhan was said to have crafted counterfeit emails mimicking the official Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee address.

Aigbokhan was also said to have swiftly funneled about 215,000 USDT.ETH across multiple crypto wallets before the FBI intervened, freezing the accounts with Tether’s cooperation on December 31, 2024.

According to reports, the FBI’s digital forensics allegedly pinned Aigbokhan to the crime, tracing the fraudulent transactions to a Binance account he opened in October 2024, with IP addresses linking back to Lagos State.

The FBI has already seized over ₦60 million worth of cryptocurrency from his wallets, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Blaylock Jr. is pushing for full forfeiture and recover the balance as the ‘Yahoo Boy’ defrauded Trump’s inauguration committee of $300,000 in total as per reports.

Meanwhile, the FBI has yet to release an official statement on the allegations as of press time.
