Global football is about to meet the rhythm of Afrobeats after FIFA has officially confirmed that Nigerian music icons Burna Boy, Davido, and Rema will perform at the 2026 World Cup.

The announcement locking in these Afrobeats stars at the 2026 World Cup events coincides with the drop of the official 18-track tournament soundtrack.

The tournament’s opening festivities have been structured as a unique trilogy of events cutting across Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Leading the charge, Grammy-winner Burna Boy is scheduled to perform the tournament’s official song, “Dai Dai,” alongside pop icon Shakira during the opening ceremony in Mexico City on June 11.

In a series of announcements, FIFA revealed that Burna Boy will perform at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, while Rema will take the stage at the opening ceremony in Los Angeles. Davido, meanwhile, is set to headline the 2026 World Cup countdown concert series, also in Los Angeles.

“Dai Dai. Shakira and Burna Boy will join a star-studded lineup on the global stage at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico City,” the governing body’s Instagram post reads.

FIFA blog post further listed other performers, including Mexican artists Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, and Maná.

Others include Venezuelan singer Danny Ocean, Colombian singer J Balvin, and South African singer Tyla.

Rema is set to perform at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Los Angeles alongside American rapper Future, Katy Perry, Anitta, South African sensation Tyla, and LISA.

Davido will also take center stage in Los Angeles, performing at the World Cup countdown concert series on June 10.

FIFA confirmed that the concert will feature Diplo’s Major Lazer alongside Davido.

“Los Angeles will play host to a high-energy celebration, featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer and Davido, the first artists announced for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football, and culture,” FIFA said in a statement released on Tuesday.

Beyond the live performances, Ayra Starr, Davido, Rema, and Burna Boy were named among the artists featured on the official soundtrack album for the tournament, which kicks off on June 11, 2026, at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

For the album, Rema joined forces with K-pop sensation Lisa and Brazilian artist Anitta on a track titled ‘Goals’. Davido, meanwhile, teamed up with Canadian singer Nelly Furtado and American electronic trio Major Lazer for ‘No Place Like Home’.

Ayra Starr appeared on ‘Show Me’ alongside American rapper Latto, while Burna Boy partnered with Shakira for ‘Dai Dai’.
