Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on Tuesday clinched a crucial 1-0 win over Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg at Emirates Stadium, London.

The first UEFA Champions League semi-final of 2025, which took place at the Emirates, saw a tightly contested match between Ligue 1’s League leader, PSG and EPL’s second-placed team, Arsenal.

PSG’s Ousmane Dembele scored an early goal, setting the tone for a fierce battle as both teams vie for a spot in the Munich final.

Although Arsenal responded, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma proved impenetrable, making five crucial saves, including a remarkable stop against Leandro Trossard’s left-footed effort.

The Gunners mounted pressure in the second half, with Mikel Merino believing he had equalized just after halftime.

However, a three-minute VAR review ruled the goal offside, preserving PSG’s lead. Arsenal’s attacking efforts, led by Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, but the scoreline ended in PSG’s favour.

This victory gives PSG a slender advantage heading into the Champions League semi-final second leg at Parc des Princes on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

Arsenal will need to overturn the deficit in Paris to reach their first Champions League final since 2006. The winner of this tie will face either Barcelona or Inter Milan in the final on May 31.
