Chelsea FC has emerged as the leading contender to win the 2025 FIFA CWC, according to the latest Opta Winner Predictor.
Opta predicted Chelsea’s chances of winning the 2025 Club World Cup stand at 26.44%.
This means the West London club edged out European powerhouses like PSG, which has a 25.45% chance, and Real Madrid, which has a 16.94% chance, according to the Opta Winmer predictor.
Opta explained that the chances reflect Chelsea’s advantageous path to the final of the 2025 FIFA CWC. Unlike PSG, who face tougher early matchups, Chelsea’s route appears smoother.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that Chelsea having defeated Benfica 4-1 after extra time on June 28, 2025, secured their spot in the quarterfinals.
Chelsea will now face Palmeiras, who edged out Botafogo 1-0 on June 28 in Philadelphia. A win here would propel them to the semifinals.The opponent of Chelsea in the Semifinal, should they win the Quarterfinal, will be the winner of the Fluminense vs. Al Hilal match.
This means Chelsea has a simple path to the 2025 FIFA CWC final.
PSG, on the other hand, entered the quarterfinal after defeating Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 4-0 on June 29, 2025.
The French side will now take on Bayern Munich, who defeated Flamengo 4-2 on June 29. This matchup pits two European titans against each other.
The winner faces the victor of Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid, who beat Juventus 1-0 on July 1, and Dortmund, who edged Monterrey 2-1, are both in top form.
