English side, Chelsea have defeated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the FIFA Club World Cup final to win the 2025 CWC trophy against Paris Saint Germain (PSG), a club that had netted multiple goals to dispatch opponents at the tournament which ended on Sunday.
The West London side netted three goals in the first half, courtesy of Cole Palmer’s two goals and João Pedro’s goal, pushing aside all the odds stacked up against the club prior the kickoff as PSG was the clear favorite on the night.
Chelsea became the giant killers against a side that ran riots over Bayern Munich and Real Madrid earlier in the competition, comfortably putting loads of goals past them. But on the night, the Londoners held their 3-0 lead in the second half to secure a famous victory over PSG who won the 2025 UEFA Champions League.
Following the pummeling of PSG by the Blues, the victory means Chelsea is the first winner of the expanded Club World Cup tournament. The Blues are also the first English side to win the Club World Cup twice.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that Chelsea’s journey to win the 2025 CWC trophy began in Group D, where they defeated Tunisian side ES Tunis and MLS club Los Angeles FC.
Despite losing to Flamengo from Brazil, the Blues went on to the round of 16.In the round of 16, Chelsea faced Benfica and defeated them 4-1, qualifying for the Quarter-final where they face Palmeiras.
Chelsea also overcame the tie, defeating Palmeiras 2-1, securing their spot in the semi-final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
In the semi-final, Chelsea defeated Fluminense 2-0 to become a finalist in the first edition of the new FIFA Club World Cup.
Following the win, Chelsea joined an elite group of clubs who have lifted the trophy multiple times, equaling Bayern Munich and Corinthians on two titles each.
The expanded 2025 tournament featured a record $1 billion prize pool and Chelsea’s path to the title reportedly earned them over $134 million in participation and progression bonuses.
President Trump joins jubilant Chelsea on stage

Meanwhile, the US President Donald Trump was present at the FIFA Club World Cup Final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
He joined FIFA president Gianni Infantino on stage to hand the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James after their 3–0 victory as he clapped, pumped his fist, and joined the jubilant celebrations onstage as Chelsea lifted the trophy.
“It’s a big thing [competition], Gianni’s a friend of mine. But it’s great to watch,” Trump told DAZN. “This is a little bit of an upset we’re watching today. [Fifa has done] fantastically well, it’s a growing sport, it’s a great sport.”
