Nigeria’s Super Falcons soared to new heights, securing their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations WAFCON trophy with a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that the 2024 WAFCON final was a clash of titans, pitting Nigeria’s storied Super Falcons against a determined Moroccan side seeking their first-ever WAFCON crown.

The Atlas Lionesses, backed by a passionate home crowd of 21,000, started strong, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half.

The match began with Morocco asserting early dominance, capitalizing on their home advantage. Two quick goals exposed rare defensive lapses from Nigeria, which had conceded only one goal throughout the tournament before the final.

However, Nigeria’s never-say-die attitude turned the tide in the second half, culminating in a heart-stopping 88th-minute goal by substitute Jennifer Echegini that sealed the 3-2 victory.

This means the Super Falcons of Nigeria have clichéd their 10th WAFCON trophy, further cementing their position as the most decorated women’s team in Africa.
