The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the shortlist for the coveted 2025 African Men’s Player Award.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that the 2025 African Men’s player award list features a clash of giants led by Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi.
The announcement made on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, sets the stage for what promises to be one of the most tightly contested races in the award’s history, recognizing African football’s elite.
A former winner of the award, Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) enters the fray following another prolific season in the Premier League, where his attacking output remained world-class.
He faces stiff competition from another former winner of the award, Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray), who capped off the year with a domestic double in Turkey and continued his phenomenal goal-scoring form.
PSG’s Champions League-winning right-back, Achraf Hakimi, is also a formidable contender, with his all-around influence and silverware tally.
The release of the full nominees’ list for the 2025 African Men’s Player Award confirms a thrilling race for the continent’s most coveted individual prize, recognizing the top performances from January 6 to October 15, 2025.
Pan-Atlantic Kompass reports that the nominees were selected by a panel comprising CAF Technical and Development Committee members, seasoned coaches, CAF Legends, and respected media professionals.
Each category features 10 nominees carefully chosen for their exceptional performances across competitions within the period under review.
