The U.S. Department of War has released footage of the moments when the U.S. launched strikes on ISIS terrorists and camps in Nigeria.

It was gathered that the precision operation, which took place on Christmas Day, targeted several strategic camps in the northwestern state of Sokoto.

According to official reports from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), the military operation was a coordinated effort involving intelligence sharing with Nigerian authorities.

The newly released video of when the U.S. launched strikes on ISIS terrorists in Nigeria showed Tomahawk cruise missiles being launched from a U.S. Navy warship positioned in the Gulf of Guinea.

The video showed the launch of a BGM-109 Tomahawk Land Attack Cruise Missile (TLAM) from the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, USS Paul Ignatius (DDG-117), positioned in the Eastern Atlantic, against ISIS terrorists in Northwestern Nigeria.

Further reports revealed that the U.S strikes targeted the Lakurawa terrorists who have been operating in many parts of Sokoto State over the past few years.

Recall that in November 2024, the Nigerian government declared the Lakurawa armed group, which flogs people for listening to music, a terrorist organisation and banned it across the country.

Lakurawa is a militant group that carries out attacks, targeting local communities in north-western Nigeria and across the border with Niger.

Nigerian officials said Lakurawa is affiliated with jihadist factions in Mali and Niger, and its militants have for years settled in communities along the Nigeria-Niger border, marrying local women and recruiting youths.

It was also gathered that Lakurawa operates in five local government areas in northern Nigeria, including Ilela, Tangaza, Gudu, Silame, and Binji.

United States President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes on ISIS terrorists in Nigeria via Truth Social, describing the mission as a “powerful and deadly” response to the rising tide of violence against innocent civilians in the region.

Trump said: “Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries! I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper. May God bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”
