Rotarian Bello Hassan Taiwo has officially assumed office as the 24th President of the Rotary Club of Egbe, District 9111, for the 2026/2027 Rotary year.
In his inaugural acceptance speech, themed “Create Lasting Impact,” Rotarian Taiwo emphasized a shift toward sustainable community development, youth empowerment, and healthcare advocacy designed to directly touch the lives of grassroots populations within Egbe and its environs.
Addressing a gathering of distinguished district leaders, past presidents, family members, and fellow Rotarians, Taiwo expressed humility upon taking up the mantle of leadership.
He paid tribute to the club’s founding members and immediate past leadership, specifically acknowledging the Immediate Past President, Rotarian Anameana Nneka, for laying a solid foundation upon which the new administration aims to build.
Taiwo promised to continue from where she stopped and elevate the club to greater heights.
Turning to the members of the Rotary Club of Egbe, he thanked them for their trust and confidence, stressing that the election was a mandate he does not take for granted.
He also dedicated the presidency to his family, his wife, children, parents, siblings, and extended relatives, who supported him through late nights, meetings, and absences, serving as his pillar and prayer warriors.
He stated: “It is with profound humility, deep gratitude, and a great sense of responsibility that I accept this noble honour to serve as the 24th President of the Rotary Club of Egbe for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year.
“To my predecessors, our Past Presidents who built this club from its foundation to what it is today – I say thank you. You have laboured, you have sacrificed, you have kept the Rotary torch burning. I am standing on your shoulders. I promise to preserve your legacy and build upon it.
“To my Immediate Past President, Rotarian Anameana Nneka, thank you for your outstanding year of service. You have laid a solid foundation. I will continue from where you stopped and take us to greater heights.
“To the members of this great Club, Rotary Club of Egbe, thank you for your trust, your love, and your confidence in me. You did not just elect a President; you gave me a mandate. I do not take it for granted. I promise, I will not disappoint you.
“To my beloved family – my dear wife, my children, my parents, my siblings, and my extended family – this honour is yours. You have been my pillar, my backbone, my prayer warriors. You endured my late nights, my Rotary meetings, my absence at home, yet you never stopped supporting me. Today, I dedicate this Presidency to you.”
Emphasizing Rotary’s core motto of “Service Above Self,” Taiwo declared that the day was not about him but about the organization and its impact on communities.
He unveiled the theme for his year: CREATE LASTING IMPACT. This aligns with the broader 2026-27 Rotary International presidential theme championed by RI President Olayinka Babalola.
Under this banner, the club will prioritize sustainable projects designed to outlive the current administration rather than one-off activities. Key focus areas outlined by the new president include:
– Providing scholarships and educational support to indigent students in Egbe.
– Empowering youths and women through vocational skills training to foster self-reliance.
– Promoting maternal and child health in the community.
– Delivering clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities in schools.
– Taking Rotary’s presence “to the streets of Egbe” so that ordinary residents directly experience its touch.
Taiwo stressed that these goals cannot be achieved in isolation. He called for the full support of every Rotarian, his Board of Directors (inducted alongside him), friends, donors, and partners. “Together, we will make this year unforgettable,” he affirmed.
He specially thanked the Chairman and members of the Investiture Committee for organizing a beautiful ceremony and expressed gratitude to all who contributed generously toward the launch of projects on the day, praying for divine reward. To his Board of Directors, he urged unified service with “one heart, one vision and one purpose.”
Making a solemn pledge, Taiwo promised to lead with integrity, transparency, humility, and love, and to be “a President for all.” He humbly requested the prayers, support, and constructive corrections of members as they jointly write a new chapter for the Rotary Club of Egbe.
In closing, he wished attendees safe journeys home, invoked God’s blessings, and led the traditional affirmations: “Long live Rotary Club of Egbe! Long live District 9111! Long live Rotary International! Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”
The ceremony underscores the club’s continued commitment to community development in Egbe and surrounding areas, building on previous initiatives in health, water, education, and empowerment under successive leaderships. With the theme “Create Lasting Impact,” President Taiwo and his team aim to deliver projects that produce enduring benefits for the people of Egbe.
