Snoop Dogg-Swansea Partnership Confirmed: See Other Celebrities Owning Football Clubs

The Snoop Dogg-Swansea Partnership has officially been announced, marking a new chapter for Swansea City, a Welsh football club competing in the EFL Championship.

The global rap superstar, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., has acquired a minority stake in the club.

Announcing the Snoop Dogg-Swansea partnership, the 53-year-old music icon stated that his investment reflects his long-standing connection with the sport of soccer.

“For many years, I have been associated with soccer. You have probably seen me in (different) kits. I have worn a lot of kits in my life. But now I am at a point in my life that I am trying to find the kit that fits. The kit with the hit,” he said.

Swansea City Football Club, which plays in England’s Championship tier has also announced the partnership in a recent Instagram post.

1.  Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney – Wrexham AFC

Hollywood heavyweights Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney collaborated to acquire Wrexham AFC in 2021. Their ownership has been a masterclass in leveraging star power, with the docuseries Welcome to Wrexham skyrocketing the club’s fame. 

The duo’s investment led to three consecutive promotions, landing Wrexham in the Championship for the 2025-26 season. 

2. Tom Brady – Birmingham City

NFL legend Tom Brady swapped American football for the beautiful game when he became a minority investor in Birmingham City in 2023. The seven-time Super Bowl champion said he joined the EFL club to lend his expertise in sports performance and leadership, helping the team secure promotion to the Championship last season. 

3. Stormzy – AFC Croydon Athletic

Rapper, Stormzy is also a co-owner of AFC Croydon Athletic, a club in England’s ninth tier. Partnering with former Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha and ex-Palace head of player care Danny Young, Stormzy’s investment is all about community and giving back. 

4 . Will Ferrell – Los Angeles FC

Comedy king Will Ferrell brought his larger-than-life personality to Major League Soccer when he became a part-owner of Los Angeles FC in 2016. Known for his love of sports, Ferrell’s involvement has helped LAFC become one of MLS’s most prominent clubs, winning the MLS Cup in 2022. The club also participated in the just-concluded FIFA Club World Cup. 

5. Tems – San Diego FC

Temilade Openiyi, Nigerian singer popularly known as Tems, also recently joined the ownership group of San Diego FC in the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the US.
