The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued an urgent call for passengers aboard the Ibom Air Uyo-Lagos flight (IAN513) to provide firsthand accounts of the Ibom Air incident that occurred on August 12, 2025, at Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo.
This comes as the incident, involving a confrontation between a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, and an air hostess, sparked widespread attention.
According to reports, the Ibom Air incident unfolded on a flight scheduled from Uyo to Lagos, where Emmanson’s alleged actions caused a delay and heightened tensions among passengers and crew.
Meanwhile, the NCAA, through its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, stated that eyewitness testimonies are critical to understanding the sequence of events and determining appropriate measures.
He also said the request for an eyewitness account is necessary for a thorough investigation.
In a post via his official X handle on Tuesday, Achimugu urged anyone who witnessed the events leading to the fracas to contact him via direct message or email at [email protected].
He said: “Once we verify that you were a passenger on that flight, we can discuss and try to understand other perspectives on this issue.
“In the interest of justice and fairness, it is necessary to hear both sides of the story.”
He also stressed that while the unruly behaviour witnessed on the flight would not be excused, the authority was determined to ensure that “every other person who was culpable down the line is held accountable.”
“One hopes that lessons are learned from all of these events and that necessary adjustments and improvements are implemented by all stakeholders — passengers, airline staff, aviation security, etc.,” he added.
